Avy is a collaborative effort between avalanche centers in the U.S. to upgrade and maintain consistent public facing technology for users across the nation. We work alongside the National Avalanche Center and the Avalanche Forecast Platform (AFP).
This is our running log of all the cool things we’re building, planning and releasing:
The AvyApp is a mobile app for iOS and Android that was built by the NWAC to bring a mobile-first experience for avalanche forecasts, weather forecasts, weather station data, and observations. It is now used by avalanche centers nationwide.
AvyWeb is a product started by the SAC, SNFAC, NWAC and the NAC to build a modern multi-tenant website. The intention of the platform is to go beyond standardizing forecast products with streamlined content and improved user experience. Centers share website infrastructure and maintenance while preserving their unique identities.
By sharing a unified front end experience, we are able to learn and iterate from user interactions to continually improve our forecast, education and fundraising products.
Both of these tools are open source. We'd love for you to contribute.
AvyApp is a React Native application. Contributing doc for developers.
AvyWeb is Multi-tenant avalanche center website built on Next.js and PayloadCMS. Contributing doc for developers.
We are also always looking for the following ways: Product Management, Product Marketing, Product Analytics + Design.
